During the Paris Air Show, the military will be on hand to scope out new technology and see what's available. It's a huge show with plenty of interest from people of all types. Whether interested in drones or planes, this is one show to pay attention to.
Boeing and Airbus tend to take the spotlight every year at the Paris Air Show. However, there are several other planes, helicopters and things that fly that will be at the show this year.
The Lockheed Martin F-35 Lighting II jet is one of the highlights that will be there. This fighter provides high-speeds and will be a huge display at the show. Of course, drones will be a hot choice, as well. There’s even supposed to be a flying car, which will probably take the spotlight if it gets off the ground properly.
The show will also include a distress beacon launch with a GPS transmitter. This will aim to help locate planes when they go down and help solve the issues when locating flights, such as the Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 that disappeared. Many new technologies will also be on display at the show.
The show is currently going on and will last through the 25th of June. Airbus and Boeing will be battling it out again with plenty of great planes on display. IN 2015, Airbus filled $57 billion worth of orders from the show while Boeing filled another $50 billion. Both expect to see hundreds of planes ordered at the show.
A total of 130 aircrafts will be on display, but the star may be the F-35 stealth jet fighter. It comes in with a cost of about $100 million per plane. The fighter can fly undetected and creep up on ground targets. It can also be used for air-to-air combat and will be included in daily flights at the show.
The United States Air Force already has plans to replace the A-10 Thunderbolt II and the F-16 Fighting Falcon with the F-35. They have even taken delivery of more than 100 of these planes.
Plenty of drones will also be on display from huge to tiny. Some will be deadly and otters will be peaceful.
